Go see if your love of slashers beats at the heart of your horror addiction, as it does for me. This old school film does the genre justice without resorting to parody or comedy the director obviously did his homework. And don’t even get me started on the chase scenes, so sickeningly close to escape, amazing! The final girl is similarly exquisite understated but strong, resourceful and resilient Ingrid Bolsø Berdal plays the role of Jannicke to perfection. One look at his lair stuffed with previous victim’s belongings and one swing of that pick axe was enough to win my heart. A brief explanation for his motive is explained but for me I wasn’t needed. After surviving the events in the Jotunheimen mountains in which four of her friends were murdered, the badly injured Jannicke is brought to the local hospital.

This movie has such a nostalgia that I could almost believe that it belonged in the 80s next to The Prowler and My Bloody Valentine. The others ignorance soon dissipates when they discover Ingunn’s blood soaked room and as the killer starts to stalk them they realise help will not be coming after all, leaving the sitting ducks for the deranged psycho who’s dwells within.
Unaware, Eirek (Tomas Alf Larsen) leaves to get help but sadly he doesn’t make it far, the killer has other ideas. Storming off, Mikal leaves Ingunn alone to become the first victim of the masked maniac. The horny couple in the equation, Ingunn & Mikal (Viktoria Winge & Endre Martin Midtstigen), leave to have sex but unfortunately the only thing that’s heated about their departure is a bitter argument. They decide to wait till morning and begin to get comfortable as night falls. Unable to move him the considerable distance back to the car or to the nearest village which is of equal distance, they take temporary shelter in a seemingly abandoned hotel. All is well until Morton Tobias (Rolf Kristian Larsen) falls and breaks his leg. Cut to a group of five merry snowboarders heading to a remote mountainside location in search for the next big thrill. It starts as any good slasher should a hazy flashback to the killer’s tragic childhood. Every now and then a new slasher comes along with a flash of brilliance that it brings the genre back to life. The glory days of the late 70s and early 80s are now distilled memories for those who were old enough to live them and cherished relics for those who weren’t. Like I said, the movie is good but we have already seen a lot of this stuff before, as a Norwegian movie its a step in the right direction but if you wanna see a horror flick beyond this see: Villmark.The slasher for me is a sacred genre that is sadly well past its prime. "Fritt Vilt" has borrowed a lot from movies like "The Shining","I know what you did last summer" and a kind of "Hills Have Eyes" beginning, mostly cheap scares but some good ones to. And of course as in any other horror movie we ever seen there is always a bright guy saying: "Hey wanna check out the rest of the hotel?" Whats very fascinating though is that one of the couple end up in room 237,guess these guys haven't seen "The Shining" yet? Okay, from know on you get the idea whats gonna happen, they discover that they are not alone, they wanna get out, they cant get out because the psychopath killer is one big Jason mother#¤%&/! or something like that AND (pause) the killing spree begins.

When one of the guys breaks his foot they have to seek cover in a abandoned mountain hotel. The story starts with a couple of guys and girls heading for Jotunheimen(a big ass mountain)to snowboard.
